The game genie was a great  device for lazy gamer’s like me, though it did kind of defeat the purpose of playing games. The game genie could make you invincible, unless you hit spikes, it would also let you go right to the end of the game, but it usually messed the game up.

Anyway’s, the game genie was a fun device that helped you defeat those extremely hard games, which with the NES every game was hard. I just wish this old commercial didn’t lie to you and say that you could make your own effects in the game, what’s up with that!?

Why?  WHY!?  They were an obvious knock off from Bill and Ted.  Who in the world talked like that?

I spent many hours copying down my own codes trying to see what kind of effects I could create.  Imagine if I would have applied myself to my school work instead.  :-(

@Japanese Ghost "Imagine if I would have applied myself to my school work instead."  Lol, yeah I remember you writing down all of those random codes to see if any of them worked. I remember on Empire strikes back for the NES, you put in one random code and it took you to this cut scene showing Luke and Vader. Though it wouldn't actually let you fight Vader. Good times.:)

@Nathaniel7, That's the one I remember also.  It is weird that it was a cut scene but nothing else.  Why would that have that in the game.  Also, I was desperate for cheat codes on that game.

I'm sure if the internet would have been established by then I could have just went online and found the codes I was looking for.

Back then we had to rely on Nintendo Power.  Where you at now Mr. Nintendo Power?  Well!?

@Japanese Ghost @Nathaniel7 yeah empire strikes back, was pure evil;) Remember the dagobah levels, and cloud city uhh shudder. Even the flying level where you had to take down all of the AT-AT walker's was tedious.
